What F01 actually means

The machine has asked for water and not received enough of it in the time it expects, so it has stopped and put F01 on the display.

These Hisense machines monitor how quickly water enters the drum at the start of a wash or during a rinse. If the level does not rise as expected, the control board halts the programme and shows F01 rather than run the heater or drum dry. Hisense treat it as a supply problem first, not a machine fault — the manual asks you to clear the cause and then press Start/Pause to carry on with the cycle.

What F01 looks like on a Hisense tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Hisense tumble dryer, F01 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Not filling with water
No water going in

What usually causes it

The water tap behind or under the machine is turned off, or only part open
Mains pressure too low to fill in the expected time
The inlet hose kinked or trapped behind the machine
The small filter in the inlet hose end blocked with grit or limescale
A frozen inlet hose in an unheated garage or outhouse in cold weather
A faulty inlet valve or level sensing on the machine itself

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the cold tap feeding the machine is fully open, and run a nearby tap to confirm you have normal pressure in the house
Look behind the machine and make sure the inlet hose is not kinked, twisted or squashed against the wall
With the tap turned off, unscrew the hose at the tap end by hand and rinse the small mesh filter in the hose connector under running water — blocked inlet filters are one of the most common causes we find
If the machine is in a cold spot and the hose feels solid, let it thaw before trying again
Once you have dealt with the cause, press Start/Pause to let the cycle continue
