What F13 actually means
The machine can tell the door is shut, but the lock will not engage — so it refuses to start the cycle.
Before any Hisense washer dryer will take water or turn the drum, the door interlock has to latch and confirm back to the control board that it is secure. F13 is the code for that confirmation never arriving: the door is closed, the lock does not click home, and the programme stops before it begins. It behaves the same way across the washer dryer range, and the same code appears whether you have selected a wash or a drying programme.
What F13 looks like on a Hisense tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Hisense tumble dryer, F13 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- No function at all

What usually causes it
- Laundry or a trapped item pushing against the door, stopping it pulling fully shut
- A worn or sticking door catch that no longer holds the door tight enough for the lock to engage
- A failed door interlock (the lock unit itself) — the most common finding on this code
- Damaged or loose wiring between the lock and the control board
- Fault on the control module driving the lock
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Open the door and check nothing — a sock, a bra strap, a duvet corner — is caught in the seal or hanging over the lip.
- Push the door firmly closed until you hear it click, rather than letting it swing to.
- If the drum is packed tight, take some washing out; a bulging load can hold the door off its catch.
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, turn it back on and restart the programme. The advice is that a power cycle sometimes clears it.
