What F09 actually means
The machine's control board has lost or mismatched its own software settings, so it can't run a programme properly.

- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on and try selecting a programme — an occasional glitch will clear
- Check nothing is holding a button in on the fascia and that the programme dial turns freely
- If the machine has recently had a new board fitted, mention that to whoever attends — the board almost certainly needs configuring
