What E19 actually means
The machine has spotted a fault with its "Pyrojet" water spray system ays water onto the wash load, and it has stopped the cycle rather than carry on.
On these Vestel-built Montpellier machines, E19 is logged as a Pyrojet failure. Pyrojet is the recirculation arrangement that sprays water back over the laundry during the wash, and the control board has decided the part or the wiring feeding it is not behaving as expected. Because the machine cannot confirm that section is working, it halts and shows the code instead of continuing.
What usually causes it
- The recirculation pump or spray valve itself has failed
- A loose or damaged connection to that part
- Blockage or scale in the spray circuit
- Low water level or poor water supply confusing the control board
- A fault on the main control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short cycle — this clears a one-off glitch.
- Check the water tap is fully open and the inlet hose is not kinked or trapped behind the machine.
- Clean the pump filter at the front bottom of the machine (cold machine, off at the wall) and make sure the drain hose is not squashed.
- Run an empty hot wash with no detergent if the machine will accept it, to shift any detergent sludge.
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
