Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E19 actually means

The machine has found a fault with its Pyrojet system — the part that sprays water through the drum and detergent — and has stopped the programme.

Pyrojet is the pump and spray arrangement that pushes water back through the detergent and onto the load to help it soak in. The control board has checked that circuit, not got the response it expects, and shut the wash down rather than run without it. The manufacturer lists this as a fault requiring service attention, not something adjustable from the controls.

What usually causes it

  • Failed Pyrojet pump or its spray valve
  • Blocked spray nozzle or scale-clogged pipework
  • Loose or corroded wiring plug at the pump
  • Control board no longer reading the pump correctly

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme — occasional one-off glitches clear this way
  2. Check the water tap is fully open and the fill hose is not kinked or trapped behind the machine
  3. Clean the detergent drawer thoroughly, as caked powder and softener sludge can block the spray path
  4. Clean the pump filter at the bottom front of the machine (follow the instruction book) once the drum has drained and cooled

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
