What E06 actually means
The machine has lost the signal that tells it how fast the drum motor is turning, so it has stopped rather than spin blind.
E06 on a Servis washer is a motor fault. The control board watches a small speed sensor (tachometer) on the motor and checks its wiring; if that reading is missing, shorted or the motor plug has come loose, the machine cuts the wash and flags E06. It usually shows up as the drum not turning or not spinning at all.
What usually causes it
- Loose or disconnected motor plug, often after a house move or transport
- Faulty motor speed sensor (tachometer)
- Worn motor brushes or a failing motor
- Damaged wiring between the control board and motor
- Faulty control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short programme — this clears a one-off glitch
- Take out some of the load if the drum is packed tight, and check nothing has jammed the drum
- If the machine has recently been moved, be aware transit knocks can unseat the motor connector — that needs an engineer to check
