What E10 actually means
The machine can't get a sensible reading from the sensor that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it has stopped.
E10 is a pressure sensor (water level sensor) fault. The control board expects a signal in a set range telling it how full the drum is; if that signal is out of range, missing or the connection to the sensor has failed, the machine halts rather than risk filling or emptying blind. Without a reliable water level reading it can't safely run a wash.
What usually causes it
- Blocked or kinked pressure sensor hose inside the machine
- Loose or damaged connection to the water level sensor
- Faulty pressure sensor itself
- Sludge or debris in the sump or pressure chamber
- Control board fault
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and see if the code clears
- Clean out the pump filter at the bottom front and check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe
- Make sure the drum isn't sitting full of water — if it is, don't start another cycle
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
