Teknix E01 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What E01 actually means

The dishwasher hasn't taken in enough water in the time it allows, so it has stopped the cycle.

During filling, the control board watches how long the inlet valve stays open before the machine sees the right amount of water in the tub. If that time runs over without the water arriving, it abandons the fill and puts E01 on the display. You'll usually notice the cycle stalling early on, often with dry or barely wetted dishes and no wash noise.

What E01 looks like on a Teknix dishwasher

What usually causes it

Water tap to the dishwasher turned off or only part open
Kinked, trapped or crushed fill hose behind the machine
Blocked filter screen in the inlet where the hose joins the machine
Faulty water inlet valve — the coil has failed, so the valve won't open
Inlet valve stem seized with limescale or debris, or a loose electrical connector at the valve

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the water tap feeding the dishwasher is fully open, and that nobody has turned it off for other work.
Look behind the machine and make sure the fill hose isn't kinked, pinched or squashed against the wall — take care not to pull the appliance about on its own.
Run a nearby cold tap to confirm you actually have mains pressure and the supply hasn't been isolated.
Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, switch back on and start a short programme to see if the code returns.
Clean the filters in the base of the tub while you're there — it won't clear this code, but it rules out a related complaint.
