Teknix E06 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What E06 actually means

The dishwasher can no longer read the water temperature — the temperature sensor circuit has gone open, so the machine stops rather than heat blind.

Teknix dishwashers use an NTC thermistor sitting in the water circuit to tell the control board how hot the wash water is. When the board sees that sensor reading as an open circuit — no electrical continuity at all — it halts the cycle straight away, sounds the buzzer for about half a minute and shows E06. It is a protective stop: without a temperature reading the board has no way of controlling the heater safely.

What E06 looks like on a Teknix dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Teknix dishwasher, E06 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Not filling with water
No water going in
Takes for ever to fill
Stops right at the start of the cycle
Dishes coming out cold and wet
Not drying the load
Water not heating up
No function at all

What usually causes it

The NTC temperature sensor itself has failed internally
A loose, corroded or disconnected plug on the sensor wiring
Damaged or chafed wiring between the sensor and the control board
Water ingress or damp affecting the sensor connection
Less often, a fault on the control board's sensing circuit

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dishwasher off at the wall socket for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme — occasionally the fault does not return and the code was a one-off read.
Check the machine has been run with a hot fill no warmer than 60°C if it is plumbed to hot water, as Teknix specify a supply below that.
