What H06 actually means

H06 isn't a fault his ddishwasser's water hardness setting, showing the highest of the six levels.

On the TX3BD608 the display shows H1 to H6 when you are in the water hardness setting mode, which tells the built-in softener how much salt to use for your local water. The factory default is H4, so if yours reads H06 either it has been set to the hardest water level or someone has been pressing the buttons in that mode. The machine isn't reporting a breakdown and will carry on washing normally.

What H06 looks like on a Teknix dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Teknix dishwasher, H06 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Not filling with water
  • No water going in
  • Takes for ever to fill
  • Stops right at the start of the cycle
  • Overfilling, or won't stop filling
  • Stops with water still inside
  • Fills and drains over and over
  • H06 flashing on the display

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • The hardness level has been changed to the maximum setting, deliberately or by accident
  • The dishwasher has been left in water hardness setting mode rather than a wash programme
  • It was set high at installation to suit a very hard water area
  • Buttons pressed during a power-on sequence, dropping the machine into the setting menu

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on and select a normal programme \Check whether the H reading disappears once a cycle starts \ if it does, it was the hardness menu, not a fault
  2. If you want it back at the factory level, use the hardness setting steps in your manual to return it to H4
  3. Check the salt reservoir is topped up \ at the highest hardness setting the machine uses salt faster, so you may be refilling more often

Which Teknix models show H06

H06 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

What does H06 mean on a Teknix dishwasher?

Can I fix Teknix H06 myself?

There are 3 checks you can safely do yourself first.

  1. Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on and select a normal programme \Check whether the H reading disappears once a cycle starts \ if it does, it was the hardness menu, not a fault.
  2. If you want it back at the factory level, use the hardness setting steps in your manual to return it to H4.
  3. Check the salt reservoir is topped up \ at the highest hardness setting the machine uses salt faster, so you may be refilling more often.

This often clears with those checks, and rarely needs an engineer.
