Teknix E08 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What E08 actually means

The valve that switches the water between the upper and lower spray arms isn't reporting the position the control board expects, so the machine stops the wash.

These Teknix dishwashers with the alternating wash function use a diverter valve to send pressurised water to the top spray arm, then the bottom, rather than both at once. The control board watches the valve's position as it switches; if it doesn't move, or doesn't confirm where it is, the cycle is halted and E08 is displayed. In practice the load often comes out part-washed, with one basket cleaner than the other.

What E08 looks like on a Teknix dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Teknix dishwasher, E08 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Hums or buzzes but nothing moves

What usually causes it

The diverter valve motor has stuck or failed
A loose or corroded connection at the valve
Debris or scale jamming the valve so it can't change position
A fault on the main control board's monitoring circuit

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dishwasher off at the wall socket for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme — a one-off glitch can clear this way
Clean the filters in the base and clear any food debris, so nothing is being drawn back into the water circuit
Check the spray arms spin freely and their holes are clear, then run the cycle again and note whether one basket is left dirty
