What is actually happening
The machine opens a valve at the back to fill, and watches the pressure system to know when it has enough. No water at all usually means the supply, the valve or a blocked inlet filter. Water that fills and immediately drains away points at the drain hose being fitted too low, siphoning the water straight back out.
The Candy fault codes that point at this
A Candy washing machine will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to not filling with water:
- E02 — The machine hasn't taken in enough water in the time it allows, so it has stopped and flagged a filling fault.
- E03 — The machine tried to pump the water out, didn't manage it in the time allowed, and has stopped with a drum still holding water.
- E04 — The machine has taken on too much water and the anti-flood safety in the pressure switch has cut in three times, so it has locked itself out to avoid a flood.
- E07 — The machine can't get a proper reading from the door lock — the control board thinks the door interlock is stuck in the locked position.
- E08 — The control board isn't getting a sensible speed signal back from the motor, so it shuts the cycle down rather than run the drum blind.
- E15 — The washing machine's main control board has either failed or has never been given its software settings, so the machine won't run.
- E18 — The machine's main control board isn't reading the mains electricity supply properly, so it shuts the cycle down.
- E20 — The machine can't get a reliable reading of how much water is inside it, so it halts rather than risk filling or draining blind.

The usual causes on a Candy washing machine
- The inlet tap turned off, or a kinked fill hose
- A blocked filter gauze in the inlet hose connection — it clogs with grit from the mains
- A failed water inlet valve
- A blocked or disconnected pressure chamber hose, so the machine misreads the level
What you can safely check yourself
- Check the tap behind the machine is fully open and the fill hose is not kinked
- Turn the tap off, unscrew the fill hose at the tap end and check the small gauze filter for grit
- Listen at the start of a cycle — a buzz with no water points at the valve
