What E03 actually means

The dryer thinks there's nothing in the drum, so it has stopped instead of running a drying cycle.

On Beko dryers E03 is the "drum empty" warning. The machine judges load and dampness from its sensors, and if it can't detect any wet washing early in the cycle it halts rather than heat an empty drum. Sometimes that's correct — a very small or nearly dry load will trigger it — and sometimes the sensing itself is at fault.

What E03 looks like on a Beko tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko tumble dryer, E03 usually shows up as one or more of these:

Machine door won't open
Door won't lock or click shut
Door lock light flashing
Door stuck shut with the load inside
Won't start even with the door closed
Machine not draining
Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
Stops mid-cycle full of water

What usually causes it

A genuinely empty drum, or a load small enough that the dryer can't detect it
Washing that came out of the machine barely damp, so the sensor reads it as dry
Fabric conditioner or limescale film coating the moisture sensor strips inside the drum
A faulty moisture/humidity sensor or its wiring
Control board fault misreading the sensor signal

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Add more damp washing and restart — a fuller, properly spun-out load often runs through normally
If the clothes came out of the washer nearly dry, re-run them through a rinse and spin first
Wipe the drum interior with a damp cloth to clear any conditioner residue
Clean the door filter and, if fitted, the condenser filter
Turn the dryer off at the socket for a minute, then power up and start a fresh cycle
