What E22 actually means
Your fridge freezer can't reach your home Wi-Fi network — it's a connectivity message, not a cooling fault.
E22 on a Beko fridge freezer with HomeWhiz or similar smart features means the appliance ran its network check (a "ping test") and got no response, so it couldn't confirm a connection to your router. With E22 the appliance keeps trying to connect in the background — E23 is the related code shown once it gives up. The compressor, fans and temperature control are unaffected, so your food is still being kept cold.
What usually causes it
- Router off, rebooting, or too far from the fridge
- Wi-Fi password or network changed since setup
- Home broadband dropped out
- Appliance sitting on a 5GHz-only or guest network it can't use
- Loose network card connector inside the appliance (needs an engineer)
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check your router is on and other devices in the house have internet
- Restart your router and give the fridge ten minutes to reconnect
- Turn the fridge freezer off at the socket for a minute, then back on
- Re-run the pairing process in the Beko app, making sure you're using the 2.4GHz network and the correct password
- If the fridge is at the far end of the house from the router, consider that signal strength may be the whole problem
