What E24 actually means
The fan that circulates cold air around the fridge section isn't reporting back properly to the control board, so the appliance has flagged a fan fault.
On these Beko fridge freezers the fresh food compartment fan has a feedback wire that tells the board how fast it is actually spinning. E24 is that fault reported through the secondary (U-1) control board, so either the fan itself has stalled or the board isn't receiving its speed signal. Without proper air circulation the fridge side warms up while the freezer often stays cold, which is the symptom most people notice first.
What usually causes it
- Fan blades jammed by a build-up of ice around the fan housing at the back of the fridge
- Fan motor worn out or seized
- Loose or damaged plug on the fan's feedback wiring
- Fault on the U-1 control board rather than the fan itself
- Air vents inside the fridge blocked by packed-in food, causing frost to form on the fan
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then back on — if the fault was a one-off reading it may clear
- Check the vents inside the fridge compartment aren't blocked by food or packaging, and leave a gap around them
- Look for visible frost or ice building up at the back of the fridge section; if there is a lot, emptying the appliance and letting it defrost fully with the doors open can free a fan iced up
- : Make sure the doors are closing and sealing properly — a door left ajar causes the frost that jams these fans
