What E25 actually means

The fridge has lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor that monitors its UVC hygiene lamp, so it has flagged a fault with that part of the system.

Some Beko fridge freezers carry a UVC lamp used to keep a compartment hygienic, and that lamp has its own temperature sensor watching how hot it runs. E25 means the control board is no longer getting a believable reading from that sensor, so it reports a fault rather than run the lamp unsupervised. Cooling itself is separate from this, so in most cases the fridge and freezer carry on holding temperature normally while the code sits on the display.

What usually causes it

  • A loose or partly unplugged connector at the UVC lamp sensor
  • The sensor itself having failed open or short circuit
  • Damage to the thin sensor wiring inside the cabinet
  • A fault on the control board reading the sensor
  • Moisture or condensation around the sensor connection

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then back on — occasionally the code clears if it was a one-off read error
  2. Check the fridge and freezer are still holding temperature, so you know whether food is at risk
  3. Note down the exact code and your model number from the rating plate before booking a visit

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
