What E00 actually means

The control board has lost a sensible reading from the freezer's temperature sensor, so it can no longer tell how cold the freezer is.

Beko's documents list E0 as a freezer compartment air sensor fault — the sensor that tells the board the air temperature inside the freezer. With no usable signal, the board falls back on a safety measure and runs the compressor continuously rather than cycling it, so the freezer often ends up over-cold and iced up while the fridge side may behave oddly. Food stays frozen, but nothing is being controlled properly.

What E00 looks like on a Beko fridge freezer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko fridge freezer, E00 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Fridge freezer door won't open
  • Door won't lock or click shut
  • Door lock light flashing
  • Door stuck shut with the load inside
  • Won't start even with the door closed
  • Not heating the water
  • Washing coming out cold
  • Cycle takes far longer than it should

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Faulty freezer air sensor (the most common finding by far)
  • A damaged or chafed sensor wire, or a connector that has worked loose
  • Heavy frost or ice build-up around the sensor upsetting its reading
  • A control board fault — much less common, and often wrongly blamed first

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute and back on — Beko's own notes say the error is cleared by a power cut, so if it was a momentary glitch it will not return
  2. Check the doors are closing and sealing properly, as a door left ajar causes heavy frosting that can mask or worsen the problem
  3. If there is thick ice inside the freezer, a full manual defrost (food moved elsewhere, appliance switched off, ice left to melt naturally — no scraping with tools) is worth doing before calling anyone
