Beko E06 fridge freezer: what it means & what to check

What E06 actually means

The motorised flap that lets cold air from the freezer side into the fridge side hasn't moved when the control board told it to, so the machine has flagged a fault.

On these Beko fridge freezers a small motorised baffle opens and closes to feed cold air into the fridge compartment. The control board watches for the baffle to change position and, if it hasn't done so within about two minutes of being commanded, it logs E06. Because airflow into the fridge is now stuck in one state, the fridge side either sits too warm or gradually gets too cold and starts freezing food, while the freezer usually carries on as normal.

What E06 looks like on a Beko fridge freezer

What usually causes it

The baffle motor or its position switch has failed
Ice build-up around the baffle or air duct jamming the flap
A loose or damaged connection to the baffle assembly
Food packed hard against the air vent, stopping the flap moving freely
Control board not reading the baffle position correctly

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Move food and packaging away from the air vent inside the fridge compartment so nothing is pressing against it
Look for frost or ice built up around the vent — if there is a lot, empty the appliance and let it defrost fully with the doors open, then restart it
Check both doors are closing and sealing properly; a door left ajar causes heavy frosting that can jam the flap
Switch off at the wall for a minute and back on to see whether the code clears after the baffle re-homes
