What E15 actually means

The fan that cools the condenser at the back of the fridge has stopped reporting back to the control board, so the appliance has flagged a fault.

On these Beko models the condenser fan is a variable-speed 12V type with feedback wiring, so the control board knows exactly how fast it is turning. When the fan motor fails or seizes, the board sees no feedback and shows this code. The fridge will usually carry on cooling, but with no airflow over the condenser it has to work far harder, and freezer and fridge temperatures tend to creep up.

What usually causes it

  • Condenser fan motor worn out or seized
  • Fan blade jammed by dust, fluff or debris at the back of the appliance
  • Loose or disturbed plug on the fan's feedback wiring
  • Appliance pushed too tight against a wall or in a hot, badly ventilated spot, overworking the fan
  • Control board fault (less common)

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then power it back up — the code sometimes clears if it was a one-off reading.
  2. Check the fridge is not jammed hard against the wall and that any vents top and bottom are clear.
  3. Vacuum visible dust from the outside of the grille at the back, without pulling any covers or panels off.
  4. Avoid opening the doors more than you need to and don't put warm food in until it's fixed.

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
