What E19 actually means
The fridge has lost a sensible temperature reading from the sensor in the flap-controlled compartment, so it flags E19 and stops trusting that section's cooling.
E19 on a Beko fridge freezer is the flap air sensor error. That sensor tells the control board the air temperature in the flap (air-damper controlled) compartment, and the board uses it to decide when to open the flap and let cold air across. When the reading goes open-circuit or short, the board can no longer regulate that compartment properly and shows the code. In practice the rest of the appliance often keeps running, but the affected compartment may sit too warm or too cold.
What usually causes it
- A loose or dislodged plug on the sensor wiring at the control board \
- Damaged or chafed sensor wiring inside the cabinet
- The flap air sensor itself having failed (the usual outcome)
- Moisture or ice around the sensor giving a false reading
- A faulty control board, which is the last thing to suspect, not the first
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then back on \u2014 the fault clears itself on a power cycle if the sensor has recovered
- Check nothing is packed hard against the internal air vents or flap area, and clear any obvious ice build-up around them by letting it thaw
- Make sure the doors are closing fully and the seals are clean, as warm humid air getting in encourages icing round sensors
