What E18 actually means
The fan that circulates cold air through the BioFresh (crisper/zero-zone) drawer section isn't reporting back to the control board, so the fridge has flagged it as faulty.
Beko's control board watches the speed signal coming back from the BioFresh fan — only fans with three or four wires have this feedback, which is why the fault can be pinned down to that one fan. If the signal stops or reads wrong, E18 is shown. The rest of the appliance normally carries on cooling, but the BioFresh drawers lose their steady airflow, so items in there may sit warmer or colder than the display suggests.
What usually causes it
- Worn-out BioFresh fan motor
- Fan blade jammed by ice build-up around the fan housing
- Loose or chafed wiring plug at the fan
- Frost blocking the airway after the door being left ajar or overfilled drawers
- Faulty control board misreading the fan's feedback signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then back on — if the fault was a one-off glitch it may clear
- Check the door is closing and sealing properly, and that the seal isn't folded over
- Make sure food and packaging aren't packed against the back wall or over the air vents inside
- If you can see frost building around the vents, empty the fridge and let it defrost fully with the door open, then restart it
- Keep the door openings short and never put warm food straight in — both make icing worse
