What E17 actually means
The flap fan — the small fan that pushes cold air through the flap duct into one of the compartments — isn't reporting back to the control board, so the fridge has flagged a fault.
Beko's control board watches the speed signal from certain fans (the ones wired with three or four cables send feedback; two-wire fans don't). When the flap fan either stops turning or its feedback signal disappears, the board logs E17 and shows it on the display. The appliance usually carries on running, but air distribution through that section is affected, so you may notice one area not getting as cold as it should.
What usually causes it
- Flap fan blade jammed by a build-up of ice around the duct
- Worn or failed fan motor
- Loose or damaged plug on the fan's wiring
- Control board not reading the fan's feedback signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then back on — if the fault was a one-off the code may clear
- Check nothing inside is pressed against the rear air vents or blocking the airflow duct
- Make sure both doors are closing and sealing properly, as warm damp air getting in causes icing around fans
- If you can see frost forming inside, empty the appliance and let it defrost fully with the power off, then restart it
