What E13 actually means
The fan that circulates cold air around the freezer isn't reporting back properly, so the appliance has flagged a freezer fan fault.
Beko's variable-speed freezer fans run on 12V and send a speed signal back to the control board. When that feedback stops or the motor stalls, the board logs E13. Without that fan moving air, the freezer stops cooling evenly \u2014 you'll often see frost building in one spot, a warmer freezer, and sometimes a rising temperature warning alongside the code.
What usually causes it
- Freezer fan motor worn out or seized
- Fan blade jammed by a build-up of ice around it
- Loose or damaged wiring plug at the fan
- Control board not reading the fan's speed signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the freezer door is closing fully and the seal isn't being held open by a drawer or packet \u2014 the fan is designed not to run with the door open
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then back on, and see whether the code returns
- If there is heavy frost inside, defrost the freezer fully (food moved elsewhere) and leave it a few hours \u2014 ice around the fan blade is a common cause
- Avoid opening the doors more than necessary and don't put warm food in until it's sorted
