What E08 actually means

The temperature sensor inside the ice maker section has stopped reporting properly, so the fridge freezer has flagged a fault.

On Beko models fitted with an automatic ice maker (icematic), a small air sensor monitors the temperature in that compartment. E08 means the control board is seeing that sensor as either open circuit or short circuit \u2014 no sensible reading at all \u2014 so it flags the fault and shows the code alternating with the freezer setting. The rest of the appliance normally carries on cooling; it's the ice production side that misbehaves.

What usually causes it

  • The icematic air sensor itself has failed
  • A loose or corroded plug on the sensor wiring
  • A damaged or chafed sensor lead behind the compartment
  • A fault on the main control board reading the sensor

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute and back on \u2014 an occasional glitch will clear
  2. Check the doors are closing fully and nothing is holding the ice maker drawer or bin out of position
  3. Empty and reseat the ice container if it has been forced in awkwardly

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
