What E09 actually means
The motor that turns the ice maker's tray to drop ice cubes isn't reporting back properly, so the appliance has flagged the ice maker as faulty.
Beko's automatic ice maker (the "Icematic") uses a small motor to rotate the ice tray and eject cubes, and the control board watches a switch that confirms the motor has reached its position. If that confirmation doesn't arrive, E09 is shown and ice production stops. The fridge and freezer themselves normally carry on cooling and holding temperature.
What usually causes it
- Ice jammed in the tray or ejector, stalling the motor
- Failed ice maker motor or its position switch
- Water supply problems causing a partly frozen, over-full tray
- Loose or damaged wiring to the ice maker module
- Control board not reading the ice maker signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the ice maker off at the control panel, empty the ice bin and check for a lump of frozen-together ice or a stuck cube
- Let the ice compartment stand with the bin out for a while so any ice bridging the tray can thaw, then wipe it dry
- Make sure the ice bin is pushed fully home and seated correctly
- Check the water supply tap and pipe to the fridge is on and not kinked
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power back up to see if the code clears
