Beko E27 washer dryer: what it means & what to check

What E27 actually means

The machine has worked out that water is going somewhere it shouldn't — either leaking out, or being siphoned away down the drain while it fills — so it has stopped the programme.

Beko's control board watches how much water goes in against the level it actually reaches in the drum. If it keeps taking water in without the level holding, it flags E27 and halts. There are three causes for this code: an actual water leak, a drain pump control (triac) that has failed short circuit so the pump runs when it shouldn't, and siphoning, where water runs straight back out of the drain hose as fast as it comes in.

What E27 looks like on a Beko washer dryer

What usually causes it

Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe or sitting too low, so the drum siphons itself empty
A leak from the detergent dispenser or the hoses feeding water into the drum
A split or slipped hose connection inside the machine leaking onto the base
The drain pump's electronic switch failed short circuit, leaving the pump pumping constantly
A faulty flowmeter miscounting the water going in

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Look under and behind the machine for water on the floor or damp patches — if there is water, turn it off at the wall and leave it off.
Check the drain hose: it should hook into the standpipe or sink trap without being shoved deep down it, and the top of the loop needs to be well above the water level in the drum. A hose lying low or pushed too far in is the classic siphoning cause.
Make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or trapped behind the machine.
Clean out the pump filter at the bottom front and check the door seal for grit or trapped items.
Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and start a short programme to see whether the code returns straight away or only once water is in.
