What E21 actually means

The fridge section got too warm for too long, and the appliance is telling you the temperature it reached so you can decide about the food inside.

Check both doors close and latch properly, and that nothing inside is holding a door open
Wipe the door seals and check they sit flat against the cabinet with no gaps or splits
Make sure food isn't blocking the air vents at the back of the fridge compartment
Clear the alarm and give it a few hours with the doors kept shut, then see whether the fridge is genuinely cold again
If it followed a power cut, check the food — anything questionable should go
