What E03 actually means
The sensor that measures the air temperature inside the fridge section has stopped giving the control board a sensible reading, so the fridge no longer knows how cold it actually is.
Each compartment has a small temperature probe feeding the control board. When the fridge air probe reads as an open or short circuit, the board flags E03 and lights the alarm indicator. On these Blomberg no-frost models the appliance does not shut down — it drops onto a fixed, pre-set cooling routine instead, so the compressor and fan keep running but on a timer rather than on real temperature readings. The fault clears itself the moment the probe reads normally again.
What E03 looks like on a Blomberg fridge freezer

What usually causes it

- A loose, corroded or damaged plug where the sensor connects to the control board
- Damp or condensation getting into the sensor wiring, often near the back of the fridge liner
- Chafed or pinched sensor cable, usually where it passes into the cabinet
- Less often, a fault on the control board's sensor input
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute and back on — a genuine sensor failure will bring the code straight back, an odd glitch may not
- Check the doors are closing fully and the seals aren't folded over, as constant warm air and condensation don't help the sensors
- Make sure food and packaging aren't jammed against the rear or side walls of the fridge, blocking airflow
- Note whether the fridge is actually still getting cold, and whether it's now running colder or warmer than usual — that's useful information for the engineer
