What E11 actually means

Blomberg's control board watches this sensor continuously, and it triggers the fault when the circuit reads as either open or short — in other words no signal at all, or a dead short. Because that coil sensor is what tells the appliance when to run and when to defrost, the board can no longer judge either properly, so it falls back on fixed timed running rather than proper temperature control. On these models the alarm indicator lights up alongside the code.

A chafed or broken sensor wire inside the cabinet
Moisture or ice tracking into the sensor connection
Less often, a fault on the main control board reading the sensor

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute and back on — where the fault has cleared itself, the code will not return
Note whether the compartment is still getting cold, and check the door is closing and sealing properly so warm damp air is not being drawn in
Make sure nothing is packed hard against the rear inside wall of the compartment, blocking airflow over the coil
