What E09 actually means

The automatic ice maker isn't turning as it should, so the fridge freezer has flagged a fault with it — the cooling itself is unaffected.

The control board watches a switch on the ice maker that changes state as the ejector mechanism rotates. If the ice maker is told to move and that switch signal doesn't change within about a minute, the board decides the mechanism is stuck or the motor isn't driving it, lights the alarm indicator and shows this code. Everything else — compressor, fans, fridge and freezer temperatures — carries on as normal, so you'll usually notice the warning before you notice any missing ice.

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Slide the ice bin out and check for a solid lump of ice or a cube jammed in the mechanism — clear anything loose by hand, then refit the bin squarely so it sits fully home
If there's heavy ice build-up, leave the ice maker switched off for a few hours and let it thaw naturally rather than forcing anything
Turn the ice maker off and back on at the control panel to let the board retry the movement
Switch the appliance off at the wall for a minute and back on; if the mechanism now completes its cycle, the code should clear
