What F13 actually means
The main control board has lost contact with the motor's own control board, so no instruction to turn the drum ever reaches the motor.
These machines use a brushless (BLDC) motor with its own control card, and the main board has to talk to that card before the drum will move at all. With F13 the two boards are not communicating, so the order to spin is never received — the drum stays still and the programme stops part way through, often with water and wet washing left inside. It is worth knowing the difference from F11: with F11 the boards are talking but the motor itself won't turn, whereas F13 means the conversation has broken down entirely.
What F13 looks like on a Blomberg washing machine
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Blomberg washing machine, F13 usually shows up as one or more of these:

- Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
- Standing water in the bottom

What usually causes it
- A loose or partly unseated connector between the main board and the motor control board
- Damaged or chafed wiring in the loom running to the motor card
- Loss of mains supply through the noise filter to the motor card
- A failed motor control card
- A failed main control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme — an occasional one-off communication glitch will clear
- Check the plug and socket are sound and the machine is not on an extension lead or adaptor
- If the drum won't turn and there is water inside, don't keep restarting it; drain the machine using the filter at the front (with the power off) before moving the load
