What F13 actually means
The machine can't confirm the door is locked, so it won't run.
On these ElectriQ machines the door lock has to heat up and latch before water goes in, and the control board waits for a signal back to say it's secure. If that signal doesn't arrive within the first few seconds of the programme, the cycle is halted and F13 appears. F14 is the related code for a door simply left open — F13 points more at the lock itself misbehaving.
What F13 looks like on a ElectriQ washing machine

What usually causes it
- Door not quite pushed home, so the catch hasn't engaged
- Laundry or a stray sock trapped in the door seal, holding it fractionally open
- Worn or sticking door catch and striker plate
- Failed door interlock (the part that locks the door for the cycle)
- Wiring or control board fault reporting the lock incorrectly
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Open the door and close it again firmly, then press Start/Pause.
- Check nothing is caught between the door and the seal — a towel corner or sock is enough to stop the catch.
- Wipe any detergent residue off the catch area and the seal.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, switch back on and restart the programme.
- Start the programme and give it around 20 seconds, then try the door — if it still opens freely, the lock isn't engaging and it needs attention.
