What C02 actually means
C02 isn't a breakdown ing code ing code \service own service test mode.
On this Electrolux washer dryer, C02 is step 2 of the built-in diagnostic sequence \\ the wash compartment fill test. With the programme knob turned to position 2 in service mode, the machine locks the door and opens the wash inlet valve to prove water will load through the main detergent compartment, with the clock digits showing the actual water level in the drum in millimetres rather than a time. It runs for up to five minutes or until the overload level is reached, then stops. If you are seeing it without meaning to, the machine has been put into diagnostic mode rather than developing a fault.
What C02 looks like on a Electrolux washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Electrolux washer dryer, C02 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Service test mode entered accidentally, often by holding buttons while switching on
- An engineer or previous user left the machine in diagnostic mode
- The knob was moved to position 2 while the test sequence was active
- A genuine slow or no-fill problem noticed during the test \\ tap off, kinked hose or blocked inlet filter
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall, wait a minute, switch back on and select a normal programme \\ that clears diagnostic mode
- Check the water tap behind the machine is fully open
- Check the fill hose at the back isn't kinked or trapped against the wall
- Watch whether a normal wash fills properly once you're out of test mode
Which Electrolux models show C02
C02 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
