What E01 actually means

The dishwasher hasn't taken in enough water in the time it expects, so it has abandoned the cycle.

The machine opens its fill valve at the start of the wash and waits for the water level to be reached. On these Electrolux models the control counts how long filling takes, and if the level still isn't there after too long it flags a fill fault and stops rather than running the pump and heater with an empty tub. Nine times out of ten the water genuinely isn't arriving fast enough — the fault sits between the tap and the inlet valve, not in the wash system itself.

Water tap to the dishwasher turned off or only part open
Inlet hose kinked or crushed behind the machine after it's been pushed back
Blocked filter in the inlet hose connection at the tap end
Faulty water inlet valve not opening properly
Water level sensing in the machine reading incorrectly

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the tap feeding the dishwasher is fully open — it's often behind the kickboard or under the sink
Run a nearby cold tap to confirm you have normal mains pressure and the household supply isn't isolated
Look along the inlet hose for kinks or a tight bend where the machine has been pushed back into place
Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart a short programme to clear the alarm
