Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E06 actually means

The dishwasher has lost the signal from its temperature sensor, so it can't tell how hot the water is and shuts the cycle down.

Electrolux compact dishwashers use a thermistor to monitor water temperature through the wash and rinse stages. If the control board sees an open circuit on that sensor — no reading at all — it halts the programme straight away, sounds the buzzer for around half a minute and shows E06. A related code, E07, is used for the opposite fault where the sensor reads as short circuit, so the machine is distinguishing between the two rather than reporting a general heating problem.

What E06 looks like on a Electrolux dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Electrolux dishwasher, E06 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Dishes coming out cold and wet
  • Not drying the load
  • Water not heating up
  • No function at all
  • Dead — nothing lights up
  • Lights flashing and nothing happening
  • Programme won't start
  • Dishwasher tripping the electrics

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • The temperature sensor itself has failed internally
  • A loose or corroded plug on the sensor wiring
  • Damage to the sensor's wiring inside the machine
  • A fault on the control board reading the sensor

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart a programme — occasionally the code is a one-off reading and clears

Which Electrolux models show E06

E06 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
