What F01 actually means
The dishwasher has detected water where it shouldn't be — either a leak inside the machine or the tub being overfilled — and has shut the cycle down to protect itself.
Electrolux dishwashers carry a flood-protection device in the base of the machine. When it senses water collecting there, or that the tub has taken on more water than the wash needs, the control board halts the programme and shows F01 (the same fault is logged as F0/F1 internally, with F1 being the code the display shows you). On some models the drain pump will keep running on its own, even with the programme cancelled — that is the machine trying to get the water back out, not a separate fault.
What F01 looks like on a Electrolux dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Electrolux dishwasher, F01 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Dishwasher door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed

What usually causes it
- A leaking hose, seal or connection inside the machine letting water into the base tray
- The water inlet valve not shutting off fully, so the tub keeps filling
- A leak from the sump or door seal area
- A failed flood-protection float or its switch reporting water when there isn't any
- Water spilled or standing under the machine from an unrelated plumbing leak nearby
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall socket and close the water supply tap to it — this is the one code where stopping the water matters.
- Look at the floor around and under the machine and mop up any standing water. If you can see water pooling, it needs an engineer before it runs again.
- Take out the filter in the base of the tub, rinse it and refit it properly — a badly seated filter can let the wash water go where it shouldn't.
- Check the drain hose behind the machine isn't kinked or crushed, if you can see it without moving the appliance.
- After an hour with the water off, switch back on and see if the code returns straight away with no water present — if it does, the fault is in the machine rather than a one-off spill.
