Electrolux F08 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What F08 actually means

The dishwasher has lost the electrical connection to the diverter valve — the part that switches water between the upper and lower spray arms — so it stops rather than washing blind.

Machines fitted with a diverter alternate the flow of water between the top and bottom spray arms during the wash. The control board watches that valve's circuit, and when it reads as open — no continuity, so no feedback that the valve is there and responding — it halts and puts F8 up on the display, or flashes the wash and dry lights together on models without one. Worth knowing: this check isn't active on the Jetwash 14' programme, so the fault can appear to come and go depending on which cycle you pick.

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a fresh cycle — if it was a one-off read error it may clear
Try a different programme; the fault isn't monitored on Jetwash 14', so a clean run on that cycle doesn't mean the problem has gone
Check both spray arms turn freely by hand and their holes aren't blocked, and clean the filters in the base while you're there
