Electrolux E01 microwave: what it means & what to check

What E01 actually means

The microwave's own electrical safety check has tripped during start-up and shut the oven down before it could produce any microwave power.

On these inverter-driven Electrolux microwaves the control board runs a leakage-protection check as the inverter powers up. If it detects a current leak in that brief initialisation window, it aborts immediately and displays the code rather than letting the magnetron fire. That is a protective shutdown on the electronics side, not a door, turntable or food-related fault, so it will normally reappear every time you press start.

What usually causes it

A fault on the main control board itself, which is what the protection circuit is watching

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Switch the microwave off at the socket, leave it for a minute, then power it back up — a one-off trip can clear
If the oven has been cooking a lot of steam, or a liquid has boiled over inside, leave the door open in a warm room for a few hours to dry out before trying again
Plug it into a different socket to rule out the supply, and avoid extension leads and multi-way adaptors
