What E10 actually means
The fridge side has been warmer than 10°C for 20 minutes and the appliance is warning you about it.
This is a temperature alarm, not a breakdown code. The control has seen the fridge compartment sitting above 10°C for a continuous 20 minutes, so it flashes E10, lights the alarm indicator and beeps. The fridge and freezer keep running throughout — the code clears itself once the compartment is back down to the set temperature.
What usually causes it
- Door left open or not fully shut, or a heavy shopping load put in warm
- Food or packaging blocking the air vents in the fridge, or pressed against the temperature sensor
- A recent defrost or a very sensitive alarm setting triggering a false warning
- Door seal not sealing, so warm air keeps leaking in
- Genuine cooling fault on the fridge side (sensor, fan or airflow) if the temperature never recovers
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Press any button to silence the beep — it also switches off on its own after about an hour
- Switch on Extra Cool (or Extra Freeze) to bring the temperature down faster
- Clear food and packaging away from the ventilation holes in the air duct at the back of the fridge, and keep items off the sensor
- Check the door is closing fully and the seal is clean and not folded over
- Give it a few hours with the door kept shut and see whether the alarm clears on its own
