Electrolux E07 fridge freezer: what it means & what to check

What E07 actually means

The fridge freezer has decided its automatic defrost heater isn't doing its job, so the ice on the internal evaporator won't be cleared.

On these Electrolux no-frost models a small heater melts the frost off the hidden evaporator every few hours, and a thermal fuse protects that heater from overheating. E07 is raised when the control board sees no working heater circuit — either the heater element itself, the thermal fuse in series with it, or the board's own output to them. The appliance normally carries on cooling, but with defrosting suspended the evaporator gradually ices over and airflow to the compartments drops off.

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then back on, and see whether the code returns
Check the doors are closing fully and the seals aren't folded or torn — warm damp air getting in makes icing far worse
Make sure food and packaging aren't blocking the air vents inside the compartments
If ice has already built up, empty the appliance and leave it switched off with the doors open to thaw fully before the engineer's visit — never chip ice off with anything sharp
