Electrolux E62 tumble dryer: what it means & what to check

What E62 actually means

The dryer has lost proper control of the power supply to its heating system, so it has cut the heat and dropped into a cooling-down cycle instead of drying.

On the common Electrolux ENV06 control boards, E62 means the power relay that switches the heater unit is not behaving as the board expects — it either won't switch, or it is stuck. It often appears after repeated E63 trips: if the safety thermostat on the heater keeps cutting out and the board's attempts to restore power keep failing, the board gives up and logs E62. On heat pump models such as the EDH97941W the same number refers to a fault in the compressor circuit rather than a resistive heater, so the machine tumbles but never really warms up.

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dryer off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a short cycle — if the fault was a one-off thermostat trip it may clear
Clean the door filter and, on condenser models, the lower filters and condenser access filter; restricted airflow is what causes the overheating that leads here
Check the rear or lower vent area is not blocked and the machine isn't jammed hard against a wall
Dry a smaller load in a well-ventilated room and see whether the fault returns
