What E25 actually means
The control board has lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor that monitors the UVC hygiene lamp, so it flags a fault rather than running that lamp.
Some Flavel fridge freezers carry a UVC lamp as an air-freshening/hygiene feature, and it has its own temperature sensor so the board knows the lamp is running within limits. E25 means that sensor is reading out of range or not reporting at all — an open or shorted sensor, a loose plug at the board, or a board fault. It is a fault with the monitoring of that feature, not with the cooling system, so the compressor and fans carry on as normal.
What E25 looks like on a Flavel fridge freezer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Flavel fridge freezer, E25 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not heating the water
- Washing coming out cold
- Cycle takes far longer than it should
- Not cooling
- Freezer not freezing
- Ice building up at the back
- Food going off in the fridge
- Running constantly and never getting cold
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Loose or disconnected plug on the UVC lamp sensor wiring
- Faulty UVC lamp temperature sensor
- Damaged or chafed sensor cable
- Control board no longer reading the sensor correctly
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then switch it back on — occasionally the code clears and does not return
- Check the fridge and freezer are still holding temperature and food is frozen hard; if they are, there is no rush
- Note whether the code comes straight back after the power cycle, as that is the first thing an engineer will ask
Which Flavel models show E25
E25 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix Flavel E25 myself?
There are 3 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Turn the appliance off at the socket for a minute, then switch it back on — occasionally the code clears and does not return.
- Check the fridge and freezer are still holding temperature and food is frozen hard; if they are, there is no rush.
- Note whether the code comes straight back after the power cycle, as that is the first thing an engineer will ask.
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried them.

Tried the checks and it's still showing E25?
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. Then it wants someone who can open it up.
