What F63 actually means
The washer dryer has lost proper control of the unit that decides where incoming water goes inside the machine, so it has stopped rather than carry on filling.
Miele machines use a water path control unit to direct the incoming water to the right place \u2014 the different detergent and conditioner compartments and on into the drum. F63 means the control electronics are not getting the response they expect from that unit, so the machine cannot be sure water is going where it should and shuts the cycle down. In practice you'll usually see it early on, around fill and dispensing, often with the drawer compartments left untouched or only partly rinsed through.
What F63 looks like on a Miele washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Miele washer dryer, F63 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
- Stops right at the start of the cycle
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
- Programme won't start

What usually causes it
- A fault in the water path control unit itself
- A wiring or plug connection to that unit having worked loose

What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then back on, and see whether the code returns on the next cycle
- Check the water tap is fully open and the inlet hose is not kinked or trapped behind the machine
- Pull out the detergent drawer, rinse it under the tap and clear any thick powder or softener sludge from the compartments before refitting it
