What E07 actually means
The washer dryer's control board has lost or cannot read the settings that tell it which model it is, so it refuses to run a programme.
On these Vestel-built Montpellier washer dryers, E07 is logged as a configuration failure — the electronic control has a stored set of parameters for the specific model (drum size, spin speed, whether a dryer is fitted, and so on) and it has found that data missing, corrupted or not matching the machine. It stops rather than guess, because running a programme on the wrong parameters would mean the wrong water levels, heating and spin behaviour. It is worth knowing that the manufacturer's table marks E07 as a code intended for the service interface rather than the normal display, so if you are seeing it on the front panel the machine has been put into a diagnostic state or the control has genuinely failed to configure itself at power-up.
What E07 looks like on a Montpellier washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Montpellier washer dryer, E07 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Overfilling, or won't stop filling
- Stops with water still inside
- Fills and drains over and over
- Not drying
- Blowing cold air
- Clothes still damp at the end
- Takes hours to dry
- No function at all
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- A replacement control board fitted but never programmed for that particular model
- Corrupted settings in the control board's memory, often after a power surge or brownout
- A failed or partly failed main control board
- The machine left in a service or test mode after previous work
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on — a one-off memory glitch will sometimes clear
- Make sure the machine is on its own socket and not running through an extension lead or adaptor, as poor supply can upset the control at start-up
- Cancel any programme and try selecting a plain cotton wash from cold, to confirm the fault comes back on a normal cycle rather than in a test routine
Which Montpellier models show E07
E07 means the same thing on all 9 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix Montpellier E07 myself?
There are 3 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Switch off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on — a one-off memory glitch will sometimes clear.
- Make sure the machine is on its own socket and not running through an extension lead or adaptor, as poor supply can upset the control at start-up.
- Cancel any programme and try selecting a plain cotton wash from cold, to confirm the fault comes back on a normal cycle rather than in a test routine.
