What E14 actually means
The machine has run the drying heater but the air inside isn't getting hot, so it has stopped the dry cycle.
Montpellier's control board watches the drying air temperature after switching a heater on. If it doesn't see a rise of at least 10°C within about three minutes, it gives up and shows E14 — recorded as a dryer heater thermostat fault. Washing itself is usually unaffected; it is the drying side that fails, either straight away or part-way through a wash-and-dry programme.
What E14 looks like on a Montpellier washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Montpellier washer dryer, E14 usually shows up as one or more of these:

What usually causes it
- A blown thermostat or thermal cut-out on the dryer heater, often tripped by restricted airflow
- The dryer heating element itself having failed (these models use two heater stages, and either can cause the code)
- Poor or corroded connections at the control board plug feeding the heater circuit
- The temperature sensor reading the drying air incorrectly
- Blocked or restricted airflow through the machine, so heat never reaches the sensor as expected
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and try a drying programme again — a one-off sensing glitch can clear.
- Clean the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe; poor draining upsets condenser drying.
- Check the cold water tap is fully open — these condenser dryers need water flow to condense the moisture.
- Try drying a much smaller load. An overpacked drum restricts air movement past the heater and sensor.
- Make sure the machine isn't jammed hard against a wall or shut in an unventilated cupboard, and that the room isn't unusually cold.
