What E08 actually means

The dryer has decided the mains electricity reaching it is outside the range it will run on, so it has stopped and shown a supply fault rather than a fault with itself.

Montpellier's dryer control boards watch the incoming mains voltage and expect it to sit somewhere between roughly 170V and 265V. If it drops below or swings outside that window — even briefly — the board halts the programme and puts E08 up. The fault for both the F1 and T2 Touch panels, and the T3 heat pump boards, all describe E08 the same way: voltage fluctuation, checked first at the socket, not inside the machine.

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dryer off at the wall, leave it a minute, then switch back on and restart — a one-off supply dip will often not return
Plug the dryer straight into a wall socket on its own, not into an extension lead, multi-way block or plug-in timer
Try a different wall socket if there is a suitable one nearby
Note whether it happens at a particular time of day, or when a shower, kettle or oven is running — that pattern points at the supply rather than the dryer
Check whether other appliances on the same circuit are also playing up or lights are dimming
