What E09 actually means
The machine has decided the electricity reaching it is outside the range it will work with, so it has stopped the programme rather than carry on.
The fault on this Vestel-built platform records E09 as a voltage error, and it's one of the few codes the control board deliberately shows to the owner rather than hiding in service mode. The board monitors the incoming mains supply while the drum is running, and if the voltage sags or spikes beyond its limits it halts and displays the code to protect the motor drive and heating circuits.
What E09 looks like on a Montpellier tumble dryer

What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn it off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart the programme — a single supply glitch will often clear and not return.
- If it's running through an extension lead, adaptor or timer plug, take it out and plug the machine straight into a wall socket on its own.
- Notice whether lights elsewhere in the house dim or flicker when other appliances start; that points at the supply rather than the machine.
- If the code returns immediately on a socket you know is sound, stop there — the rest is inside the machine.
