Montpellier F02 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What F02 actually means

The dishwasher can see water still flowing into it at a moment when the water valve is supposed to be shut, so it stops rather than risk overfilling.

Montpellier dishwashers count water in with a flow meter on the inlet. If that meter keeps registering flow after the control board has switched the inlet valve off, the machine reads it as an uncontrolled fill and halts the programme, usually with the display showing the fault and the lights flashing. It is a protective stop — the alternative is water continuing to enter until it overflows.

What F02 looks like on a Montpellier dishwasher

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dishwasher off at the wall and close the water tap at the plumbing under the sink, then leave it a minute before switching back on and starting a short cycle
Look at whether water is still trickling into the tub with the machine switched off — if it is, keep the tap closed and book an engineer
Check the drain hose behind the machine is not squashed, kinked or hanging into standing water
Clean the filter in the base of the tub and make sure the door shuts and latches cleanly
