What is actually happening
Where a single zone has failed the fault is nearly always that zone — its element or its energy regulator. Where the whole hob is dead, the fault is upstream in the supply or the control board. Which of those two it is decides whether this is a modest repair or a bigger one, so it is the first thing to establish.
The Grundig fault codes that point at this
A Grundig electric hob will usually tell you what it thinks is wrong before anyone opens it up. These are the codes we hold for this make that relate to not heating:
- E01 — The temperature sensor fitted to one of the induction coils under the glass isn't giving a sensible reading, so the hob has shut that zone down.
- E02 — The hob's electronics have lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor that watches the cooling heatsink inside the unit, so it shuts the affected zone down rather than risk overheating.
- E03 — The touch control panel on the front of the hob has lost contact with the induction power board underneath it, so the hob won't heat.
- E04 — The hob has lost a sensible reading from the temperature sensor attached to one of its induction coils, so it shuts that zone (or the whole hob) down rather than heat without knowing how hot it is.
- F01 — The hob's touch control panel has failed its own internal check, so the hob shuts the cooking zones down.
- F03 — The two processors inside the hob's touch control panel have stopped talking to each other properly, so the hob shuts the cooking zones down.
If yours is showing one of those, that is a much shorter conversation than a general fault — tell us the code when you book and the engineer can often carry the part.
The usual causes on a Grundig electric hob
- A failed radiant element in one zone
- A failed energy regulator or touch control for that zone
- A failed control board where the whole hob is dead
- A supply fault or tripped breaker on the cooker circuit
What you can safely check yourself
- Test every zone in turn and note which work — one dead zone and one dead hob are different faults
- Check the cooker breaker or isolator switch
- Check whether the oven on the same circuit still works
Still not heating?
Most of these need an engineer once the checks above are done. £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it, or £84 in total including VAT if it is put right on the visit and no parts are needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Our engineers work on Grundig machines week in, week out, so they arrive knowing the machine rather than reading the back of it. Local engineers across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Common questions
Why is my Grundig electric hob not heating?
One or more rings do not heat, or heat only on some settings. Where a single zone has failed the fault is nearly always that zone — its element or its energy regulator. Where the whole hob is dead, the fault is upstream in the supply or the control board. Which of those two it is decides whether this is a modest repair or a bigger one, so it is the first thing to establish.
Can I fix a Grundig electric hob not heating myself?
Test every zone in turn and note which work — one dead zone and one dead hob are different faults. Check the cooker breaker or isolator switch. Check whether the oven on the same circuit still works. Beyond those checks this one normally needs an engineer.
What Grundig error codes mean not heating?
Grundig electric hobs report this through their own fault codes. The ones that point at not heating are E01, E02, E03, E04, F01, F03. If your machine is showing one of those, that narrows it down considerably — each has its own guide on this site.
How much does a Grundig electric hob repair cost?
£66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it, or £84 in total including VAT if it is put right on the visit and no parts are needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
