Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What F03 actually means

The two processors inside the hob's touch control panel have stopped talking to each other properly, so the hob shuts the cooking zones down.

On this Grundig induction hob the glass touch panel has its own control board with two processors on it that have to stay in step with one another. When that internal conversation breaks down the board reports F03 and refuses to run the zones, because it can no longer trust what your finger presses are asking for. It is a fault inside the touch control board itself, not something to do with the pans, the zones or your electrics.

What F03 looks like on a Grundig hob

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Grundig hob, F03 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Not heating up
  • Takes ages to get to temperature
  • Cuts out part way through cooking
  • Noisy fan
  • Not getting cold evenly
  • Cuts out after a few minutes
  • No function at all
  • Dead — nothing lights up

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • A failed touch control board — the remedy for this code
  • Moisture or liquid that has got into the control area and upset the board
  • Heat damage to the control board, often where hob ventilation underneath is restricted
  • A poor connection between the touch panel and the induction board

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the hob off at the wall (or at the isolator switch) for a minute, then back on — an occasional one-off glitch will clear
  2. Make sure the glass is completely dry and free of spills, and that nothing is resting on the touch area
  3. If the panel was recently wiped or something boiled over, leave it to dry out fully before trying again

Which Grundig models show F03

F03 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
